Phase 2 Septic System Installation

After the site pads were finished, the septic system installation was next. For Phase 2 a 1500 gallon septic tank and 400 feet of drain field and repair is required. The tank is so heavy that it comes in two pieces, I'm told, to prevent the truck from flipping over when it is hoisted off the back end of the truck and into the ground.

The tank was positioned in the hole and care was taken ensuring it was level. Also, the black sealant on top of the tank walls must be kept clean to guarantee a proper seal with the top section of the tank.

After a couple of tries, the top section was placed squarely on the bottom half. The result was a completely installed septic tank.

Next, a laser was used to flag out the drain field. Then 200 feet of panels were laid.

We found big rocks when digging the trenches and sometimes when they won't move you have to admit defeat and pipe around them.

This is a process that we will repeat 4 times building Elk Passage. Septic systems also take up a great deal of space. I won't even mention cost especially in these inflationary times.
